The concept behind the collections came from the five elements which provide the foundation for the entire physical world. Space, Air, Fire, Water, Earth. The Five Elements explain why substances of the natural world are harmonious with the human body. Inspired by them, I chose Water, Fire and Air with Smoke to develop my collections. I observed the elements separately and discovered the parts that eventually relate to each other. The collections reflects circular and triangular shapes, and geometrical patterns that are common in nature.
Capsule 1 is the Water collection where I investigated the form of fluids that travel within and around our bodies, giving mineral needs to all creatures on earth. It is vital for all known forms of life. Fluidic transparency pervades the fabrics and the colors are reminiscent of oceans, lakes and waterfalls.
Capsule 2 is the Fire collection which was based on the shapes and colors of fire, with orange flames bringing light into the dark by releasing heat and various chemical reactions. Considering the natural disasters that fire can bring, I went into the characteristics of creatures who can exist within and around it.
Capsule 3 is the Air collection which was inspired by the smoke and remains which fire leaves after it has settled down. Air, humbly residing in the background as an atmospheric property, provides other elements an opportunity to interact.
The looks reflect a clear artistic expression, showing functional and multicultural shapes that are exciting and imperative
forms of self-expression. By bringing the right colors, forms, structures and materials together, the collections reflect my philosophy and communicate it through the elements of my designs.
